Myoclonus is a very bothersome involuntary movement disorder. This is a jerking, very rapid, shock-like movement. Myoclonus may occur in any body part and greatly interferes with activity. For instance, if a child were trying to hold a pen, the myoclonus movement may cause the pen to fly out the child’s hand. It is not suppressible and there is no urge or warning. This is a very rare condition and has many causes.
Myoclonus is not known to be linked to Tourette Syndrome.
