Seizure Disorders

Seizure disorder is one of a group of Movement Disorders which also includes Tourette Syndrome.

Seizure disorder can cause involuntary movements such as rapid eye blinking or arm movements.  In cases of seizures, children may loose consciousness or awareness briefly.  None of the other movement disorders affect awareness or consciousness and this is a key distinguishing feature.  In the case of a seizure, an EEG (electroencephalogram) is essential for diagnosis.

Seizure Disorders are not known to be linked to Tourette Syndrome.
